Marcel van der Lubbe
Architect, founding partner
Architect and founding partner Marcel van der Lubbe grew up surrounded by the forests and hills of Nijmegen. The design profession was in his genes – his grandfather was employed as an architect for, among others, Kropholler and Cuypers, and later designed many churches and military homes with his own firm. In 1995, Marcel graduated from Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) with a design in Benidorm for a villa with garden for introspection and reflection. Marcel is adept at translating a conceptual idea into a building, in which he continuously seeks connections between landscape, urban design and architecture. He derives a lot of enjoyment from developing the idea down to the minutest detail. With his expertise in the areas of Open Building and flexible stacked homes, Marcel is contributing to the sustainable future of the buildings of ANA architects. His fascination for wood has developed in recent years into the rock-solid conviction that bio–based building is the future. Marcel has been passing on his knowledge and practical experience with great enthusiasm to students at the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture and the TU Delft for 25 years. He also tries to spend a few hours playing the piano every day. And at the weekend, he races through the mud on his mountain bike together with his son.
