ANA architects has won the architectural competition for De Kleine Elsevier! Commissioned the Rochdale housing corporation, ANA is designing starter homes for the lot next to the Dudok-designed former Elsevier headquarters in Amsterdam. Building in a densifying city is put into practice here: the building will be located between the A10-West ring highway and the Elsevier building.
This project is part of the transformation of the Gulden Winckel Entrance Area. As a vital pivot point on the border of Amsterdam-West, New-West, Havenstad and Westerpark, the significance of this area will only increase.
The small houses are between 30 and 50 m2 and have a double orientation. The design of the complex takes into account sufficient collective space for meeting. Residents can meet each other in the galleries and lobby and in the green terrace garden between the buildings. At the heads of the building, there will be so-called sawtooth homes with a soundproofed outdoor space due to the shape of a sawtooth.
