Maarten Vermeulen

Architect, project leader

Maarten Vermeulen has been working at ANA architects since 2017. For him, architecture is a means to emphasize the relationship between people and the world they inhabit, strengthening their connection. Shaping the collective space and the space between program elements is crucial in his view for creating excellent buildings. He enjoys working on the daily conditions in which people live, continually searching for unique typologies for everyday life. Maarten graduated from the Amsterdam Academy of Architecture with a project titled ‘House for the Sovereign Individual,’ which was a plan for a collective residential community. Previously, he worked at Studio Herman Hertzberger, NEXT Architects, and as a freelance designer for various firms.
